1. Who we are and how our service works
The Home Sauna (thehomesauna.co.uk) helps UK customers browse home saunas and request quotes from independent suppliers. We do not manufacture, sell, deliver or install saunas ourselves. When you request a quote, we pass your enquiry to the partner supplier who sells that product, and that supplier quotes you directly.
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
For the information described here, we are the data controller:
- Business name: The Home Sauna
- Privacy contact: contact@thehomesauna.co.uk
Once a partner supplier receives your enquiry, that supplier becomes a separate data controller for your information. Their own privacy policy then governs how they use it.
2. Personal data we collect
We collect only what we need to connect you with a supplier and run the website.
When you request a quote or contact us, you give us your name, email address, phone number, postcode or address, the product you are interested in, the options you selected, and any message you add (for example, your preferred installation timescale or questions about electrical supply).
When you subscribe to updates, you give us your email address. We only send marketing if you opt in.
When you browse the website, we collect technical information automatically through cookies and similar tools: your IP address, device and browser type, approximate location (town or country level), pages viewed and how you arrived at the site.
We do not ask for, and you should not send us, payment details or sensitive information such as health conditions. Payment is arranged directly between you and the supplier.
3. How we use your data and our lawful basis
UK law requires a lawful basis for each use of your data. Ours are set out below.
| What we do | Data used | Lawful basis |
| Pass your quote request to our partner supplier of the product you chose | Name, contact details, postcode/address, product and options, your message | Your consent, given when you tick the box on the quote form |
| Follow up to check you received your quote and were happy with the service | Name, contact details, product | Legitimate interests (making sure our service works for customers) |
| Answer questions you send us | Name, contact details, your message | Legitimate interests (responding to enquiries) |
| Send offers and sauna guides by email | Email address, name | Your consent (you can unsubscribe at any time) |
| Run, secure and improve the website | Technical and usage data | Legitimate interests; consent for non-essential cookies |
| Keep records needed by law, such as commission and tax records | Enquiry reference, product, supplier, date | Legal obligation |
We never sell or rent your details to marketing lists or to suppliers you did not choose. We do not make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Who we share your data with
Partner suppliers. When you request a quote, we send your details to the supplier of that product, so they can prepare your quote, answer questions and, if you choose to buy, arrange the sale, delivery and installation. We only send your details to the supplier of the product you enquired about. The quote form shows you who that supplier is, or that it is one of our partner suppliers, before you submit.
We may receive a referral fee or commission from the supplier for introducing you. This does not change the price you are quoted.
Once the supplier has your details, they handle them under their own privacy policy, and any contract for the sauna is between you and them.
Service providers who help us run the business, under contracts that require them to protect your data: website hosting, email, form and CRM tools, analytics, and our accountants.
Authorities and advisers where the law requires it, or where needed to establish or defend legal claims.
A buyer of our business, if we sell or merge it, on condition that they use your data only as this policy describes.
5. Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. We use four kinds:
- Essential cookies keep the site and its forms working and protect them from spam. They are always on.
- Analytics cookies show us which pages are visited and where people get stuck, so we can improve the site.
- Advertising cookies measure how well our adverts work.
- Embedded content, such as videos or review widgets, may set cookies controlled by that provider.
We only set analytics and advertising cookies if you accept them in our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time through [the cookie settings link in the footer], or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop the quote form working.
6. How long we keep data, security and transfers
Retention. We keep quote requests for [24 months] after your last contact with us, so we can handle follow-up questions and confirm referrals with suppliers. Records we must keep for tax purposes are kept for 6 years. Marketing consent is kept until you unsubscribe. After that, we delete or anonymise the data.
Security. We use password-protected systems, encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limited access, so only people who need your data to do their job can see it. If a breach puts your data at risk, we will tell you and the Information Commissioner’s Office where the law requires it.
International transfers. Some of our service providers store data outside the UK, for example in the US. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards UK law requires, such as UK adequacy regulations or the ICO’s International Data Transfer Agreement.
7. Your rights, complaints and contact
Under UK data protection law, you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete your data where we no longer need it;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- transfer it to another organisation in a usable format;
- stop sending you marketing, at any time and without giving a reason.
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it. If you withdraw consent after we have passed your enquiry to a supplier, we will let that supplier know, but you may also need to contact them directly.
To use any of these rights, email contact@thehomesauna.co.uk, We will respond within one month and there is normally no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy. We may update this policy when our service or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated, and we will tell you directly about any significant change that affects data we already hold.
